My Corgis are tested for health issues that are seen in Pembroke Welsh Corgis, and bred accordingly.  DNA tested for

Degenerative Myelopathy (DM) - A fatal, chronic, progressive degenerative neurological disease of the spinal cord

Von Willebrand's Disease (VWd) - A blood clotting disorder

Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA) - An eye disease that leads to complete blindness within 1 to 4 years

Exercise Induced Collapse (EIC) - A neuromuscular disorder that may cause intolerance to strenuous exercise

Pembroke Welsh Corgi Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) - Expressed mainly in male dogs, affected dogs are unable to produce adequate amounts of protein important for muscle contraction and relaxation

Severe Combined Immunodeficiency Disease X-Linked Corgi Type (SCID) - Expressed mainly in male dogs.  Affected dogs are unable to produce a protein important for proper immune function, predisposing them to chronic bacterial, viral and fungal infections

I also DNA test parents for coat, color and traits to help determine possible coat colors of puppies, and whether fluffs or naturally bobbed tails are possible.

Hips are x-rayed and examined to determine joint structure and health.

We are ACTIVE and spend lots of time with our dogs.  They are included in all aspects of our lives.  They have horses, cats, chickens, and other canine and people friends.  They attend & enjoy herding & barn hunting training and events, show in conformation and rally and hike and jog with the family.  Sookie is in training to be a Diabetic Alert Dog.  She's a NATURAL and has reminded me several times to check my blood sugar.

I breed only a small number of litters most years.  Please contact me if you're interested in a puppy.  If you're ready for a new bestie now, I may be able to direct you to a breeder or rescue that has puppies or dogs available and may have one ready for you.

I do not ship puppies.

I expect to place our sweet puppies in forever homes.  Understandably, circumstances can change.  I'm always here to help.  I will happily take back any of our puppies/dogs under any circumstances - in fact, I ask that I be contacted before any puppies/dogs are re homed.  Refunds/partial refunds or a replacement puppy may be given in accordance with the situation.  A copy of my Puppy Sales Agreement is located at the bottom of the "Puppies" page.

I'm happy to answer any questions you may have about my dogs and Corgis in general, and I can refer you to fun activities in the So Cal area that you and your Corgi will love!

Thanks for stopping by.  Please come back often, as the site is updated regularly!

Rescue

Please know, I strongly encourage adopting from a shelter or rescue.  One of the many dogs in need of a home may be a perfect choice for you.  These dogs are often housebroken and have some training.  The temperament of an older dog is better known.  There are even pure bred Corgis available from time to time.  If you are looking for a working dog, show dog, or a wonderful family pet with maybe a little more background information, then a pedigreed and health-screened dog may be the right choice.  I can help with your decision, offer referrals, and am happy to have you come meet my dogs and see different personalities in this breed.

rescueme.org is a great place to check for dogs and puppies needing new homes for a variety of reasons.  You can search for specific breeds by area.  They also have a Facebook page, "Rescue Me!  Corgi Rescue"  where you can see dogs in your area when they come available.  Check it out!
